Raw Chocolate Mini Cakes

How about another chocolate treat?! This post contains the recipe for chocolate mini cakes that are super sweet and yet wholesome as they contain only natural ingredients. These mini cakes require no baking and are easy to put together.

These mini cakes are:

  • raw;

  • vegan;

  • sugar-free;

  • gluten-free.

They are recommended for all the chocolate lovers out there as their strong chocolate taste is overwhelming. The cakes consist of three layers: a crunchy base, a soft filling, and a chocolate cover.


For the crust:

  • 100 g almond flour*

  • 50 g coconut flour*

  • 20 g coconut oil (soft)

  • 3 Medjool dates

For the chocolate filling:

  • 15 Medjool dates

  • 20 g cacao powder

For the topping:

  • 50 g dark chocolate

  • 1 tbsp hazelnut butter



  • Soak the dates for the chocolate cream filling in warm water for at least half an hour.

For the crust:

  1. Using a food processor or a blender, mix all crust ingredients together. You should end up with a sticky consistency. All the ingredients should be evenly spread across the mixture.

  2. In a tin of your choice (I used small round tins), press the crust mixture down with your fingers.

  3. Refrigerate it until you prepare the chocolate filling.

For the chocolate filling:

  1. Drain the dates of the water and place them in a food processor/blender.

  2. Add the cacao powder and process until you end up with a smooth consistency.

  3. Transfer the filling on top of the crust and refrigerate again.

For the topping:

  1. On a double boiler, melt chocolate.

  2. Pour the melted chocolate on top of the cooled chocolate filling and spread it well.

  3. Pour some hazelnut butter on top of the chocolate and make various patterns using a chopstick (as shown in the pictures).

  4. Refrigerate until the chocolate cover sets and enjoy the rich chocolate flavor of these mini cakes!

Serves about 4-6 mini cakes (depending on the size of the tin you use).


* You can use only almond flour or only oat flour. You can even get creative and make your own nut flour out of your favorite nuts and use it to prepare the crust in this recipe.
